ISML Day 7, Seeding Results

So the results for the seeding match are out, and some of the results are downright surprising….but oh so delighted so see them like this.

Bracket A

Katsura Hinagiku
(Hayate no Gotoku!)
2244
Misaka Mikoto
(To Aru Majutsu no Index)
2037
Izumi Konata
(Lucky ☆ Star)
1494
Tōsaka Rin
(Fate/stay night)
1432
Sakurano Kurimu
(Seitokai no Ichizon)
1358
Asahina Mikuru
(Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu)
1120

As expected of the reigning champion, she had no troubles getting top place. The big news here is Misaka Mikoto though, compared to last year…her new Railgun series has truly turned her into a fearsome competitor and a true powerhouse beating some previous top 16 candidates. I cant wait to see how she does in the future. Sakurano Kurimu on the other hand had her first taste at top class competition, if she is to perform like she did in the prelims she will have to up her game even more.

Bracket B

Shana
(Shakugan no Shana)
2403
Suzumiya Haruhi
(Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu)
1709
Shiina Mafuyu
(Seitokai no Ichizon)
1630
Hirasawa Yui
(K-ON!)
1521
Holo
(Spice and Wolf)
1427
Saten Ruiko
(To Aru Kagaku no Railgun)
1003

If there is someone I can always count on and I can be fully confident in her abilities to deliver a safe victory, is my unrivaled favourite Shana, and it seems her old habit of always getting the highest vote number is still in effect…granting her the #1 seed. Haruhi managed 2nd in the group but her numbers where a little low…is this still the fault of E8? Well the movie should fix this…And then comes my biggest surprise, Shiina freaking Mafuyu managed to outvote Hirasawa Yui from moeblob sensation K-ON, this is for me one of the most impressive victories and has really givenme the confidence that Mafuyu has the firepower to play with these girls, and maybe with a stroke of luck, she could aim for top 16.

Bracket C

Sakagami Tomoyo
(CLANNAD)
2114
Hiiragi Kagami
(Lucky ☆ Star)
1972
Sanzen’in Nagi
(Hayate no Gotoku!)
1885
Sengoku Nadeko
(Bakemonogatari)
1788
Kawashima Ami
(Toradora!)
1181
Fukuji Mihoko
(Saki)
647

Meh…It seems Tomoyo STILL doesnt want to step back either, she captures first and Kagami second. Nagi who looked dominant on prelims is suddenly reminded that against the big leagues she can still fall short by a hairline.

Bracket D

Akiyama Mio
(K-ON!)
2338
Aisaka Taiga
(Toradora!)
2193
Nagato Yuki
(Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu)
2170
Furude Rika
(Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
1216
Sunohara Mei
(CLANNAD)
1043
Haramura Nodoka
(Saki)
644

Im surprised, I claimed Mio would aim for top 10 this year, but this….this is more than I ever expected. Mio just managed to beat both Taiga and Nagato Yuki. All of the gathering over 2000 votes, but Mio still managed to get ahead. While I see Taiga remaining strong I dont think she will do as well as last time, and for those who like Nagato, pray that the Haruhi movie DVD/BD comes out before ISML 2010 ends, because if it does….I will say this now, and I will give it my seal of guarantee (even though its a shitty seal); Nagato will win ISML 2010 Tiara if the timing is right.

Bracket E

Saber
(Fate/stay night)
1986
Nakano Azusa
(K-ON!)
1758
Fujibayashi Kyō
(CLANNAD)
1728
Fate Testarossa
(Mahō Shōjo Lyrical Nanoha)
1589
Shiina Minatsu
(Seitokai no Ichizon)
1420
Okazaki Ushio
(CLANNAD)
1058

A surprising victory of Saber, I was not expecting this actually…since I thought Kyou would pull through, but it seems she fell short even after Asuza, what happened to her being top 5?  Fate on the other hand seems to be in the same situation as Nanoha, for both of them (but this also applies for Saber) if their movies come out before ISML ends we can see a big shift in strength (although FSN movie will help Rin more than Saber). Oh yeah poor Minatsu…welcome to ISML

The seeding ranks (top 10):

  1. Shana
  2. Akiyama Mio
  3. Katsura Hinagiku
  4. Aisaka Taiga
  5. Nagato Yuki
  6. Sakagami Tomoyo
  7. Misaka Mikoto
  8. Saber
  9. Hiiragi Kagami
  10. Sanzenin Nagi
